Class B Uniforms

"Class A" uniforms are the official boy scout uniform with official shirt, neckerchief, official pants and belt. For less formal occasions or situations where your boys might get too dirty for official uniforms, some packs have "Class B" uniforms. Class B uniforms are are tee shirts showing your scouting affiliation that may be worn over jeans or shorts. The Class B uniform is great when you are going on a trip and want to be able to locate your Cubs quickly by color of their tee shirt or to allow other adults to identify your boys and their pack affiliation, and get them back to you if they get lost. Class B tee shirts make a great souvenir for a trip, are a great advertisement for your Pack, and the boys love them. My boys sometimes wear them all summer long. Some places to order Class B uniforms on-line are:

Just for clarification, the BSA refers to the "Class B" as the "Activity Uniform" and is defined as the official pants or shorts, socks, and belt with a Scouting related T-Shirt, polo shirt or other shirt. Jeans are not part of the uniform.

You make a good point. There was an article in Scouting Magazine http://www.scoutingmagazine.org/issues/0605/d-lett.html that says the terms "Class A" and "Class B" are military terms not used by the Boy Scouts. As you say, the BSA uses the term "official uniform" or the "activity uniform." I want to write an article on uniforming so I will look into this some more. Thanks for your comment.
