Guide to Safe Scouting

Many Cub Scout leaders are not aware of the excellent Boy Scout publication, Guide to Safe Scouting which is available free on line as well as in print form. Scouting offers boys many opportunity to stretch their limits and expand their outdoor experiences, but it is important to remember, particularly for Cub Scouts, that there should be reasonable, age-appropriate limits placed on a Scout's activities. All of us read about tragedies from drowning, children lost in the woods, and injuries and accidents on camping trips. As a Cub leader you certainly want to avoid these kinds of things happening to your boys, and the Guide to Safe Scouting can help. It contains sections on youth protection, acquatics, camping, drugs and alcohol, emergency perparedness, first aid, fuels, guns, sports and several other topics. Please take the time to read this important publication and make sure that your Pack's activities comply with the standards established by the Boy Scouts.
